- Born on December 11, 1936 in York, Pennsylvania.
- Marty Stearn started his track career as a hall of fame athlete at West Chester University in the mid-1950s. He began coaching several successful high school programs in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. After winning 3 Pennsylvania state championships, he was named head coach at Villanova University. While coaching at Villanova he led the woman’s cross country team to 5 Division 1 Team Championships.
- Marty was also a coach at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul Korea.
- Marty is a graduate and Wall of Fame member of Upper Darby High School
