About Randy Jay Braun
Randy Jay Braun understands the importance of following your passion.
Established as one of Hawaii`s renowned artists, Randy Jay Braun began his journey as a student of anthropology and documentary film production at Occidental College in 1984.
It was that year Braun was sent to Hawaii for an internship at the Kamehameha Schools.
There, his passion for island wisdom was borne. With camera in hand, Braun immersed himself in Hawaii`s unique culture -- becoming a student of the hula, and surrounding himself with Hawaiian experts and elders.
In addition to his established collection of portraits featuring Hawaiian people, Braun has a new portfolio of Hawaii’s unique landscapes and special places. Having earned Kahili, Pele, and Na Hokuhanohano awards for his cultural photography, Braun strives to remain on the creative cutting-edge often combining both old and modern camera techniques.
For 18 years the Randy Jay Braun Gallery was established as Hawaiiʻs most beloved art gallery, located on the island of Maui.
Braun currently teaches photography to students of all levels. His various workshops are located in Hawaii and in Italy.
